What a great week we have had in Year 3. We have been practising our skills at telling the time in maths and looking at how we can improve our own writing pieces in literacy this week. We have looked at setting our own goals in PSHE and the importance of taking responsibility for our own learning. In RE this week, we have looked closely at places of worship concentrating closely on the faiths Christianity and Islam.

What a great week we have had in Year 3 this week! We have been reading  'Land of Green Ginger' in literacy this week , where the children have been able to design their own micropolis and write a descriptive piece based on their design. In maths this week, we have been focussing on learning the number of seconds in a minute, hours in the day, days in the month etc. We have then been using this information to deepen our reasoning and problem solving skills. In topic, we have been learning about England's World Cup win in 1966. What a super week Year 3, keep up the hard work and have a lovely weekend!

What a lovely week we have had in Year 3 this week! We have been working hard in Literacy at writing our own reports and really reflecting on the progress we have made this year. In Maths this week, we have been revising topics learned earlier in the year to refresh our minds ready for Year 4. We have been continuing our work in topic based on the World Cup. It has been lovely to see the children enjoying themselves and taking part in Sports Day this year. What a great week Year 3, keep up the hard work and have a lovely weekend!

In Year 3 this week, we have being trying really hard with multiplication in maths. We have continued writing our own reports and we cannot wait for our adults to read them! In guided read, we have continued exploring Charlotte's Web and even made a brand new reading corner! In topic, we have continued learning about the World Cup and the history of football.  Year 3 have worked incredibly hard, well done!

What a great start we have had this week to the new half term. In maths this week, we have been looking at solving problems using division and multiplication. In literacy this week, we have been looking at the layout and context of a report. We have started our new topic this week, ‘The World Cup’. The children have looked at previous World Cup winners and the history of the World Cup. They have also written a fantastic piece of writing based on a penalty shoot out, including the thoughts and feelings of the players. What a great week we have had in Year 3 this week. In maths, we have been focusing on division and reminding ourselves of the skills involved to solve division problems. In literacy this week, we finished our newspaper unit and produced our own newspaper articles reporting about the Royal wedding. In topic this week, we have rounded up our knowledge of the royal family and finished our topic of Historic England ready to start our new topic after half term. What a super half term it has been, the children have worked brilliantly; we would like to wish you all a lovely half term break.

What an absolute super week we have had this week! We have been focussing on the Royal Wedding for our topic and the children have had the chance to design and make their own scones! In maths, we have been focussing on addition and subtraction and using this to deepen our reasoning and problem solving skills. In literacy we have continued our work on newspapers particularly focussing on headlines and the purpose behind them. We also wrote some of our own which were fantastic! This week, in year 3, we have had a lovely week. We have continued our newspaper topic in Literacy, exploring all the features we need to create our own report. In Maths, we have continued to master fractions; adding and subtracting them! We look forward to our D & T week next week and are super excited for our Royal Wedding.

What a fantastic week we have had in Year 3 this week! In literacy, we have started our new topic, looking at newspapers. We have been looking at the features and what makes a newspaper article effective. In maths this week, we have been focussing on equivalent fractions and being able to order and compare fractions. We were super excited to receive a letter from the Queen this week, where we were able to put our letter writing skills to the test in order to write a reply. What a super week in Year 3 this week, have a lovely weekend and keep up the hard work!

What a super week we have had in Year 3 this week! We have been working very hard in Maths by recognising different angles within 2D shapes. In Literacy this week we have been focussing on biographies and the features that they contain. The class have produced some fantastic pieces of work as part of our art week. We have produced a collaborative piece of artwork as a class based on the painting 'Coming from the Mill' by L.S. Lowry. It's been a fantastic week in Year 3, keep up the hard work and have a lovely weekend!

This week in Year 3 we have explored angles and perpendicular lines in Numeracy. We were very excited to start our new book- Charlottes Web in Guided Read and have had some amazing discussions. We have been working super hard in Literacy on setting descriptions and hope to produce some amazing work in our hot write. Our Science topic this term is plants and the Year 3s have been investigating parts of a plants and their functions. We can’t wait to see the outcome! Well done Year 3.

What a super week it’s been in year 3 this week. We had a lovely time at the Easter service on Monday afternoon and then the fantastic Easter bonnet parade on Tuesday afternoon. The children in rock challenge have been working extremely hard finalising their performance ready for tonight’s show! We’ve had a fantastic spring term year 3, we are both so proud of all your efforts and how far you have all progressed. Have a lovely Easter break and keep up the hard work next term!

What a great week we have had in Year 3 this week! We have been looking closely at William Shakespeare and his work in literacy this week. In Year 3, we have been focussing on ‘Twelfth Night’ where we created story maps for this story and then used this to plan our own adaptation. The children have worked really hard and produced some excellent stories. In maths this week, we have been looking closely at interpreting pictograms and bar charts and then solving problems using these skills.  We had a lovely afternoon for the Parent Partnership, recreating artwork based on William Shakespeare. What an absolutely brilliant week we have had in Year 3 this week! As part of our science week, we have been focusing on marine life and all the different creatures that can be found under the sea. The children have done a wide range of activities this week, all of which they have thoroughly enjoyed! From creating an ocean in a bottle to crystallising seashells, we’ve done it all this week! In maths this week, we have focussed on bar charts, interpreting them, being able to gather information and draw our own. In literacy this week, we have looked closely at writing setting descriptions for a jungle scene. What a superb week Year 3! Have a great weekend and keep up the hard work!

This week, in Year 3, we have continued to learn how to tell the time in Maths. In literacy, we have been preparing to write up our shape poems and have created some amazing ideas! What an epic World Book Day 2018 we had, reading and completing activities about Billionaire Boy by David Walliams, he even liked our tweet! We learned all about the plague this week as part of our Historic England topic and made gooey slime in Science. What a busy, but brilliant, week we have had! Well done Year 3.

What a great week we have had in Year 3 this week. We have been continuing our work on time in maths this week, telling the time between an analogue and 24 hour clock. In literacy this week, we have been continuing our work on shape poems, the children had a chance to write their own shape poem this week and experiment with different shapes. We have started our new topic this week, looking at historic England. We have began the topic by looking at The Tudors which the children have thoroughly enjoyed and found very interesting. In literacy this week we have finished our unit of formal and informal letters and started our new unit, shape poems. In topic this week we have looked closely at Chichen Itza, one of our Wonders of the World. It's been a super week in Year 3 this week! It has been a super week in Year 3 this week. In maths, we have been focussing on subtraction and subtracting different measures. In literacy, we have finished our play script unit where the children wrote their own play scripts, and we have started our new unit of looking at letters. In literacy this week, we have been taking a closer look at play scripts and the features of a play script. We have had a super start to the new term this week! The children have returned to school with an amazing attitude to learning and have been keen to get back into it.  In literacy this week we have started a new unit and have been looking at the layout and structure of play scripts. Over this unit, the children will be working towards writing their own play scripts. In maths this week, our focus has been measures. We have been looking at comparing centimetres to millimetres and grams to kilograms. In topic this week, we have continued our work on The Seven Wonders of World paying close attention to The Great Wall of China. What a super week Year 3! What a super week we have had in Year 3 this week! We have started looking at fractions in maths, particularly finding tenths. In Literacy this week we have also started a new unit, looking at performance poems. The children worked really hard to perform a poem based on the story of Little Red Riding Hood. In topic this week, we have been focussing on e-safety. The children have made some brilliant contributions to class discussions this and produced some great pieces of work! What a great week we have had in Year 3 this week. In literacy we have started our new unit, looking at myths and legends. The children are really excited about working towards writing their own myths and legends. In maths this week, we have been looking at two step problems which involves multiplication and division skills. We had a great morning on Thursday morning learning some new dance routines and songs with NAPA. What a lovely week we have had in Year 3 this week. In literacy this week, we have started our new topic of myths and legends. The children will now over the next two weeks, be working towards writing their own myths and legends. In maths this week, we have started working on division. The children have worked really hard and really persevered with this unit this week and used the skills they have learned in order to problem solve. In topic this week, our focus has been anti-bullying. The children have all taken part in some fantastic discussions around this topic and produced some fantastic pieces of work. We also had a great trip to the cinema on Thursday morning to see Beauty and the Beast which the children thoroughly enjoyed. What a fantastic start to the new half term we have had this week! We have been working hard in maths deepening our reasoning and problem solving skills based on multiplication. In literacy this week, we have been continuing our work on instructions, building up to the children writing their own instructions next week. In topic, our focus has been Remembrance. The children have produced some fantastic pieces of work around this theme and have really been keen to learn about the importance of Remembrance. What an amazing end to the half term we have had this week! We had a fantastic time showing you all our superb Roman creations. The children have worked so hard over this half term with our topic and have produced some amazing pieces. We are so proud of all of them! This week in Literacy we have been focussing on the features of instructions and looking closely at the use of imperative verbs. In maths this week have been looking further into multiplication and using our skills to solve problems. What a super week we have had this week in Year 3! We had a fantastic time on our school trip to the Hull and East Riding Museum! The children loved all the hands on activities and being able to  shop in a Roman market using Roman coins. We have been working super hard in Literacy this week. The children have created their own information leaflets for Hull Fair which look fantastic. In Maths this week we have been focusing on multiplication and using different methods in order to multiply numbers. What a super week this week Year 3! This week, in Year 3, we have been exploring information texts in literacy. We can't wait to produce a dazzling leaflet about Hull Fair. In maths this week, we have started our multiplication topic- the children have been looking at different methods to solve calculations. Our Roman topic continued and we got very hands on, with building Aqueducts and testing them, we also painted our Roman Shields! We certainly have been busy. Well Done, Year 3.

We have started looking at what makes a good information text and what needs to be included. In Maths this week, we have been learning how to use the inverse to check our answers when working with addition and subtraction problems. What a great week it has been in Year 3 this week. We began the week by having a lovely time at the Harvest Festival service on Monday afternoon. This week in maths we have been focusing on subtraction, the children have really been resilient and tried extremely hard to produce some excellent pieces of work. We have been continuing our work on mystery stories in Literacy this week. Closely looking at how to use paragraphs and speech marks correctly. In topic this week, the children have designed their own roman shields, their designs look fantastic! They have really been creative but they have stayed within the criteria set which is superb! What a super week it has been in Year 3 this week! In Literacy we have started our new unit, looking at mystery stories. We have looked closely at the story 'The Haunting of Pip Parker' and used clues to work out the mystery within the story. In Maths this week, we have been working on addition and particularly our written methods. The children have really persevered this week and they have all tried their best with all the problems given to them. In Science, the children have been making their own windmills and looking at the forces used to rotate a windmill. The children loved this activity and found it really interesting. What a lovely week it has been in Year 3 this week! We have been working hard in Maths this week with estimating numbers and solving problems using this skill. In literacy this week, we have been focussing on improving our descriptive writing. This is building up to writing our own setting descriptions next week as our final piece for this unit. In topic this week, we have looked at famous Roman landmarks and looked closely at mosaic designs and patterns. What a super start to the term we have had this week in Year 3. We have started a new topic in Literacy this week focusing on the story 'I'll take you to Mrs Cole'. From this story we are going to be working towards writing our own setting descriptions, focusing on improving our descriptive writing. In Maths this week we have been continuing our work on place value, the children have worked extremely hard and every lesson they have been challenging themselves with harder challenges. Our focus in the afternoons this week has been based around British Values. We have looked at how our country is run and the children have wrote their own letters asking the government to introduce a new law which they chose themselves. The letters were brilliant and something the children really enjoyed writing. What a fantastic week Year 3, keep up the hard work and enjoy your weekend!

What a fantastic transition week we have had in Year 3! The children have worked their socks off! We explored the story Orion and the Dark, the children thoroughly enjoyed this. In Maths, we looked at place value, deepening our knowledge and solving some rather tricky problems! We had a taster of our Roman topic and used some fabulous descriptive language to describe a Roman Villa.  The children have all been absolute superstars and we are so proud of their efforts. We would like to wish you all a lovely summer break and look forward to seeing you in September.

What a superb week it has been in Year 3 this week! The children had an amazing time during the water fight on Wednesday afternoon and really threw themselves into it. We had an amazing amount of fun and it was lovely to see the children really enjoying themselves. We also enjoyed a nice game of rounders as a class. The children have worked extremely hard in Maths and Literacy this week, finishing off our pieces of descriptive writing in Literacy and working on rounding and estimating in Maths. I would just like to say what an absolutely amazing year it has been this year! The children have all been absolutely fantastic and have all worked tremendously hard. They have all been a pleasure to teach and I wish them all the best in Year 4. I hope you all have a lovely summer after transition week.

What a fantastic week Year 3 have had this week! In Literacy this week, we have been continuing our work on descriptive writing focusing on the Jungle Book. The children have created some brilliant pieces this week working in small groups. In Maths this week we have revisited addition and subtraction and looked at using these skills to solve problems. We have been lucky with the weather this week and we were able to participate in sports day! What a lovely morning it was and it was lovely to see all the children participate so brilliantly. What a lovely week Year 3 have had this week. We have started our new unit in Literacy this week where the children have started looking at setting descriptions for scenes within The Jungle Book, which ties in nicely with our rainforest topic. In Maths this week we have been focusing on time and particularly converting twelve hours clocks to twenty four hour clocks. The children have been really resilient this week as it has been a tricky week in Maths but they have all put in such a fantastic effort. We have been looking closely this week and keeping ourselves safe, particularly with water, fire, the internet and road safety. The children have all contributed to some fantastic discussions and have created some great pieces of work. We also had the camping afternoon this week, which the children thoroughly enjoyed, where the children got to take part in lots of different activities. What a great week Year 3, have a lovely weekend!

What a lovely week Year 3 have had this week. We have finished our report writing this week, the children have worked extremely hard with these and they are really proud of what they have produced. In maths this week, we have been working closely with Roman numerals and looking at addition and subtraction using Roman numerals. Our class had our I.C.T. writing day on Thursday where the children have produced some fabulous pieces of work using the iPads. The children also took part in the Maths Bee on Thursday afternoon and worked really hard for their teams. What a super week year 3! Keep up the hard work and have a lovely weekend!

What a super week year 3 have had this week! We have been working really hard in literacy at writing our reports. The children have tried extremely hard with these and showed extreme determination and resilience when it has come to writing these. In Maths this week we have been focusing on telling time, particularly with converting analogue time to digital. In topic this week, the children have been learning about the different layers within the rainforest which they found really interesting. Year 3 had a lovely afternoon at the parent partnership challenge on Thursday afternoon and created some fantastic pieces. Well done Year 3, a brilliant week! It's been a lovely start back to the last half term this week. The children have come back really focussed and have worked extremely hard this week. We have been focussing on division in maths this week and looking closely at the written methods to solve division problems. In literacy this week the children have been working on their own personal reports and reflecting on each subject in detail about what they have learned and what they have really enjoyed this year in year 3. We have looked closely at the location of rainforests in relation to the world in topic this week and the children have been learning about the climate of a tropical rainforest. What a great ending to the half term we have had in Year 3! We have finished off our poetry unit this week, the children have worked extremely hard and have put all their fantastic ideas into some fabulous poems. They are a great read! In maths this week, we have continued our work on multiplication, deepening and strengthening our skills. The children have made a great effort this week with practicing their times tables and solving multiplication problems. The children have done some fabulous science work this week, looking at how shadows change through the day and how the sun effects the position. We've had a lovely end to the half term, keep up the hard work for after the holidays! What a fantastic week we have had in Year 3 this week! We have been working further with our nonsense poems, adapting nursery rhymes and changing them into nonsense poems. The children have created some fantastic pieces of work for this unit so far. In maths this week, we have been revisiting multiplication and focusing on the grid method. The children have shown fantastic perseverance with this and have worked extremely hard. In topic this week, we have been researching rainforest animals and looking at a particular animal, of the children's choice, close in detail. What a super week Year 3, keep up the hard work!

What a lovely week year 3 have had this week! We have been working hard in literacy finishing our letters topic. The children have written some fantastic final pieces for this unit of work and they have really enjoyed the topic. We have also started our new topic this week, looking at nonsense poems! The children enjoyed reading them aloud. In maths this week we have been focusing on subtraction and particularly looking at enhancing our problem solving skills. We have started our new topic of rainforests this week and looked at the rainforest setting in great detail. What a fantastic week year 3, keep up the hard work!

What a lovely week we have had this week in Year 3! We have been working extremely hard in literacy looking closely at the layout of formal letters and all the features they include. In maths this week we have been looking at adding and subtracting weights, revisiting column addition and subtraction. In topic this week we have continued looking at the history of Hull, looking at how The Blitz affected Hull. Year 3 have worked extremely hard this week and we are so proud of all their efforts. What a great start to the new term Year 3 have had! We have had a lovely week this week starting new units in both maths and literacy. In literacy we have started our new unit looking at the story 'The Day the Crayons Quit' which we will then learn to write letters based on this book. In maths we have been looking at measures this week focusing on reading scales accurately and comparing different measures. In topic this week the children have been learning about the Hull Trawler Tragedy and writing their own diary entries. It's been a great week Year 3, keep up the hard work!

What an amazing end to the half term year 3! You have all worked super hard all term and Miss Lobley and I are so proud of all of your fantastic efforts. We have had a really busy week this week! All of the Easter bonnets, gardens and eggs looked amazing and the children thoroughly enjoyed the Easter parade. We had a fantastic day at Rock Challenge on Thursday, the children did amazingly well and looked fantastic in their costumes, what a brilliant day! We have finished our Shakespeare unit this week and the children have written some brilliant stories based on The Tempest. Have a lovely Easter Year 3, stay safe and we will both look forward to seeing you in the new term!

Year 3 have had a lovely week this week. We have revisited looking at perimeter in maths this week, the children have enjoyed working on a new unit and have worked hard measuring around 2D shapes. In Literacy this week we have continued looking at The Tempest by William Shakespeare, the children have been looking at sequencing the story and the main features found in narratives. The children have also been making some beautiful poppies for our Hull City of Culture display replicating the display in Queen Victoria Square. This week the children showcased their NAPA performance, they all did brilliantly well and thoroughly enjoyed it, I would just like to say a big thank you for coming along to watch the performance it really meant a lot to the children. We have started our new topic in Literacy, looking at The Tempest by William Shakespeare, the children have been really enthusiastic about the story and they can't wait to write their own versions. In Maths this week, we have rounded off our unit of fractions. The children have worked extremely hard and we are really proud of all of their efforts. In topic this week, the children have been building bridges based on our topic of Hull City of Culture; the children have made some great pieces and worked extremely hard with their designs. What a lovely week Year 3 have had this week. In Maths this week we have been working hard on finding equivalent fractions. The children have been working extremely hard during this unit and have showed fantastic perseverance. During Literacy this week we have been continuing our work on play scripts. The children have been looking closely at appropriate use of stage directions and have written some excellent setting descriptions for the opening scene for their play script. It has been Science week this week in the afternoons. The children have been investigating reflective materials and which materials would best to make a superhero mask to reflect light. Year 3 have had a super week this week. The children have taken part in a range of different activities throughout the week and have really enjoyed and participated well in everything. This week during PSHE, we have been looking at the captivity and conservation of animals, particularly looking at whales as this is linked to our theme in rock challenge. In R.E. this week we have been looking at sacred places and particularly paying close attention to Christianity and Sikhism. The children also participated in NAPA this week and have been practicing their new dance routines and songs. Year 3 have had a fabulous start to the new half term. The children have had a super busy week this week and have taken part in a wide range of activities. On Tuesday we had 'French Day', where the children learned the names of different animals and colours in French. They all worked incredibly hard and thoroughly enjoyed the day. We had a super day on Thursday for World Book Day! The children looked absolutely amazing in their costumes and I would like to thank you all for your efforts in creating the outfits for the children. It thoroughly made the day for them. In Math's this week, we have been revisiting fractions and working out fractions of numbers. The children have really persevered with this and showed great determination throughout the week. The class have written some amazing stories in Literacy based on the picture book, Tuesday. Today we have started our new unit of play scripts which the children are really excited about. Year 3 have had a super week this week! The children have enjoyed some lovely topic themed days this week including P.E., PSHCE and R.E. day. The children have taken part in a range of activities and have really got stuck in and involved with the different themes. Our focus on Thursday was 'Say No to Bullying'. The children created some excellent discussion around this topic and came up with some fantastic points. Today we have been looking at faith founders and comparing the religion of Christianity to Islam which the children have really enjoyed. Miss Lobley and I would like to wish you all a lovely half term break, and we shall see you all in the new half term!

Year 3 have had a brilliant week this week. We had been working incredibly hard with our maths this week, learning to tell the time. The children have worked so hard this week with this unit and they have made great progress. We have been working hard on setting descriptions in Literacy this week based on the story we have been looking at 'Tuesday'. The children have come up with some superb ideas and created some lovely descriptions. In topic this week we have been looking closely at William Wilberforce as a famous face of Hull. The children looked closely at a portrait of him in Art this week and produced some amazing observational drawings. What a great week year 3, keep up the hard work and have a lovely weekend!

Year 3 have had a super week this week! In literacy we have written our very own biographies on a person that the children each created. They have worked really hard on this unit and produced some excellent pieces of work. We have also started our new unit this week, writing a narrative for the picture book 'Tuesday'. The children have started this topic with such enthusiasm. I can't wait to read their own adaptations of the story. In maths this week we have been working hard on strengthening our multiplication skills, particularly working on our reasoning and problem solving skills. Year 3 have had a great week this week! In literacy we have been continuing our topic of biographies. The children have produced some excellent work building up to writing their own biography on their own character. In Maths this week, we have continued our work on division. We have focussed on our reasoning and problem solving skills. The children have worked incredibly hard through this unit of work. In topic this week, we have been looking at the famous faces of Hull and their achievements. We have looked at the qualities they have and what qualities the children think make a great person. What a fabulous week, well done Year 3, keep up the hard work!

Year have had a brilliant week this week. We have started our new topic in literacy looking at biographies. The children have made a fantastic start to this topic and have been looking at a range of biographies and have even had a go at writing their own! In Maths this week the children have been focusing on division, it's been a challenging week but the children have really persevered and put in a fantastic effort. The children started their pedestrian training last week which they thoroughly enjoyed and have been continuing with their training in today's session. What a superb week year 3! Keep up the great work!

Year 3 have had a brilliant week learning about our new topic - Hull, City of Culture. The children have been looking at pictures from last week's light show and creating their own paintings based on these images. The children have really enjoyed being creative with colour and tone and have produced some fantastic pieces of work. In maths this week, we have been working on our reasoning skills based on multiplication and working through some challenging problems to build on our previous knowledge. In literacy we have been focusing on fictional stories and working on our descriptive writing. What a fantastic week Year 3, well done!

Year 3 have had a fantastic start to the new term and the new year. In Literacy this week, we have been working hard at focusing on the features of traditional tales and using our drama skills to create freeze frames in order to tell a story. The children really enjoyed this and worked really hard within their groups. They have created some excellent freeze frames and were really creative! In Maths this week we have been focusing on place value and extending our knowledge further by working with larger numbers and solving complex number problems using the knowledge we have learned. In topic this week, our theme has been e-safety - learning how to be safe on the internet. The children have taken part in some brilliant discussions this week and raised some excellent points. We have been learning how to deal with scenarios and how to keep ourselves and others safe whilst using the internet. You have had a fantastic start to the new term Year 3, well done and keep it up!

Year 3 have had such a lovely week this week getting into the Christmas spirit. We have really enjoyed being creative this week making Christmas cards, calendars and Christmas baubles. The children have also enjoyed making Christmas decorations for the classroom. The children really enjoyed their Christmas dinner on Wednesday and there was such a lovely atmosphere within the whole school. What a fantastic week; it's been thoroughly enjoyed by the children and the teachers. Miss Lobley and I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas; we hope you have a fabulous time and enjoy every moment of it. We also wish you a happy New Year and look forward to seeing you again in 2017! Enjoy the holidays Year 3. You've worked tremendously hard this term, well done!!

Year 3 have had a brilliant week this week taking part in a variety of different activities. In Maths this week, we have been looking at finding equivalent fractions. The children have worked extremely hard at this and I am incredibly proud of the work they have produced. In Literacy our topic is newspaper reports, so this week we have been looking at writing our own headlines for newspaper articles. The children have come up with some fabulous ideas. Also this week we have been focusing on R.E. and P.S.H.E. in the afternoons. The children have been focusing on Christmas in R.E. and during P.S.H.E. we have been looking at the qualities of being a good friend and how to work well as part of a team. The children have had a fantastic week this week, well done Year 3!

Year 3 have had a fantastic week this week! We have been really engrossed in our newspaper topic, investigating mysterious goings-on in our classroom...In Maths this week we have been working extremely hard finding fractions of amounts and developing our problem solving skills. We had a visit from KCOM this week teaching us how to use the internet safely and how the internet helps us connect around the world. On Thursday afternoon we had our Parent Partnership Challenge across the school. The children all worked extremely hard and worked well as part of a team. The children created some fantastic designs and had a really enjoyable afternoon.

What a lovely week Year 3 have had this week! The children have been working extremely hard this week in all subjects. We have been focusing our literacy on Myths and Legends and working extremely hard to cover all the features ready to write our very own stories. In Maths this week, we have been continuing our work on measures but focusing on capacity and volume. The children have worked extremely hard with this and I am very proud of all of their efforts. During NAPA this week, we have continued to practise the songs we have been learning as well as the dance routines. The children have put in a tremendous amount of effort and they are really looking forward to their final performance. Well done Year 3!

Year 3 have had a fabulous week this week. We have started a new topic in literacy this week focusing on Myths and Legends, looking at the The Girl and the Fox as our stimulus. In maths, we have started looking at measures this week with a focus on finding the perimeter of shapes. On Thursday, we had a wonderful time at the cinema watching Ice Age: Collision Course as part of the Into Film Festival. The children had a lovely time and represented the school beautifully. Also this week, the children have created some fantastic dance pieces in P.E. focusing on ourselves. We have been moving different body parts in a timed sequence, within a group, along to music. In our afternoons this week, we have been focusing on our computing skills and particularly coding with different apps. The children have worked super hard this week and have produced some amazing pieces of work. Well done Year 3!

Year 3 had a brilliant start to the week at the Hull Heritage Museum studying the history of The Stone Age. The children had a wonderful time and really got involved with the practical activities. We have also had a fantastic week in school, writing performance poems and then performing them as a class. The children have also written some wonderful acrostic Remembrance poems for Armistice Day this week.

What a fabulous start back to Year 3 after half term. The children have returned with such    enthusiasm and are showing very positive working attitudes. Some of the children have been busy over half term making and creating with their families to produce magnificent Stone Age houses, jewellery and weapons. They are now proudly displayed alongside our excellent work. We have also been developing our creative ideas through poetry. We have investigated 3D shapes and  developed the mathematical vocabulary connected with them. Well done Year 3!

This week in Y3 we finally got to complete our amazing Stone Age clothing. The children were fabulous and showed real determination and resilience when sewing and overcoming needle threading problems! Some children wanted to take it a step further and made their own accessories and even a pair of fur shoes! We have started a new literacy unit - Performance Poetry, and all the children gave 100% trying to learn and perform a poem of their choice. Well done Year 3!

Year 3 have had a terrific time this week making their very own Stone Age costumes. The children have been practicing their sewing skills by using a running stitch on their costumes to stitch the pattern together. Year 3 have also worked really hard this week writing instructions for their very own Marvellous Medicine. The    children have written some very creative concoctions.

We have had a fabulous time in Year 3 this week exploring the beginnings of instructions in literacy by using George's Marvellous Medicine. The children made their own 'medicine' and used all sorts of ingredients including washing up liquid, vinegar and toothpaste! The mixtures and smells were phenomenal! We have also had a terrific time learning about Stone Age homes during the periods of the Stone Age and creating our own sketches of the homes.

This week, in Year 3, we have been very busy indeed. In literacy we have continued exploring the features of non-chronological reports and have created our very own wonderful leaflet! We have continued to work hard on column subtraction in Numeracy, we have all been so resilient. In Art, the children experienced how Stone Age families painted in their caves, using twigs and sticks. We found it really interesting compared to our everyday use of pencils! Their final paintings are amazing. What a fab week we have had in Year 3!

In Year 3 this week we have been learning about stone age cave paintings. The children have done some wonderful fact finding and produced information sheets using the information that they found. They are in the process of having a go at learning to draw some of the animals and people that have been discovered in the caves and we are looking forward to seeing some of the final products. The children have been busy developing their addition skills in maths and have produced some great alternative adventure stories based on the story The Tunnel.

A busy week in Year 3! Roald Dahl day was a huge success. We tailored or work around the story Charlie and the Chocolate factory. We particularly enjoyed watching the live Roald Dahl webcast. In our topic we have begun to look at Stone Age people and have looked in detail at their appearance, what clothes and materials they wore and also what weapons they carried and what they might be used for. The children are continuing to demonstrate brilliant behaviour. Well Done Year 3!

A really lovely start to Year 3 for everyone in the class, including the adults. All the children have shown us how keen they are and have shown us they are ready for the challenge of Year 3. We have learned about keeping safe on the internet and have discussed the importance of Laws on our British Values - we nearly convinced the children that they had to come to school on a Saturday by introducing a new Law, however their convincing letters made a strong argument to keep weekends school free! We are looking forward to learning about the Stone Age in the up and coming weeks.

We've had a lovely last week in year 3! We enjoyed taking part in different activities across the school such as the year 3 and 4 camping afternoon, watched the year 6 production as well as join in with the summer fair. In literacy, we have written our final piece of our story which we had a lot of fun writing. Maths has been great this week as we have been learning more money amounts. Last but not least, our end of year party was amazing fun and a great way to end the week.

I would like to say a huge thank you to my class as I have thoroughly enjoyed my first year at Craven and this is down to the amazing class I had the pleasure of teaching.  Year 3, I wish you all the best of luck, you are all super stars!

Year 3, have been working hard this week. In Literacy, we have been looking at story plots and how these are structured. In Maths, we have been presenting and interpreting data using pictograms, bar charts and tables which we have really enjoyed. In the afternoons, we have been working on our Europe topic and learning more about the famous landmarks in France.

It has been such a very busy week for year 3. In literacy, we have completed our writing our own reports which has helped us realise our personal successes and challenges. In maths, we have continued working on inverse operations. We have also covered RE this week, looking at different places of worship and what makes them sacred. Additionally, in PSHE we have looked at changes in our lives and how this can help us to learn and grow as people. Thursday, was amazing for year 3 who attended the Rock Challenge finals, I couldn't be more proud of how amazingly well they did! Huge well done and thank you parents for all your support.
